Praying Mantis. One of our favorites.

In a recent interview with girl scouts, we were asked “What do you do about bugs?”. Our answer was that we play with them. Both boys, from very small, have always loved bugs. Leo, when he was a toddler, would see a bug, grab an adult’s hand and make that hand touch it. If the adult hand succeeded in touching the insect, Leo would then dive in.

Some bugs are of course to be avoided, like scorpions and Black Widows. But most are harmless and extremely cool. Of Leo’s favorites, Praying Mantis and Tarantulas rank very highly. And yesterday we found a male and female Mantis outside that we relocated to our inside garden.

Both kids keep us constantly updated on their activities.
